Kelly Moens began at Eubelius in 2016 and grew into a permanent fixture in the Tax team's advisory practice. On 1 January 2026, she was appointed counsel. She sees this promotion as counsel within her team as a confirmation of trust as well as a logical moment to put her experience to even greater use for clients, the team and the further development of the practice.

“In my new role, I want to use my experience even more to guide the team, train up younger team members and also collaborate more strategically with clients.”

How do you view your role as a lawyer and advisor to clients?

“I don’t just want to be the first person that clients call with a specific question, but also a real, substantive partner. I work with family businesses a lot. This is a very specific target group, where we like to be close to our clients. For them, fiscal matters are closely linked to the well-being of the company and of future generations.”

“To really add value as a law firm in that context, we must not only answer the question the client is asking us in that moment, but also think about the next steps. For instance, if you sell a family business, the next step is often to think about further asset planning and possibly even structuring a family office, including the structuring of investments. Identifying this and promptly notifying clients, as well as colleagues from other teams, is an important aspect of my work. This enables us to become even more of a trusted adviser for our clients.”

How will your role evolve as a result of this promotion?

“In terms of content, not much will change for me. I will continue to work broadly, but I would like to take on more of a leading role in real estate taxation, family-owned enterprises and fund taxation. In these three areas, I want to position Eubelius even more strongly in the market through what I write, the seminars I give and the conversations I engage in at events.”

“I’m finding that I’ve automatically started thinking more strategically about how the firm operates. As a junior, you have the luxury of someone coming and putting the files on your desk. Now I am more aware that expertise alone isn’t enough. Your firm has to be top of mind in order to bring in those complex files and large projects. So I want to help increase the visibility of Eubelius, and of the work of our tax team.”

What energises you in an intensive job?

“My days are very varied, which I really like. I get up early and go boxing in the morning to clear my head. I really need to do that to be ready for the challenges of the day.”

“From day one at Eubelius, I felt I was trusted and given space to take initiative. There are no targets, so there’s no internal competition. Colleagues are there for each other, and every achievement belongs to the whole team. My role in that team is shifting from being ‘at the coalface’ to having a more managerial role, but it still energises me to dig into the complexity of files.”
