Robin Meylemans joined Eubelius in 2016, immediately after his studies. Within the Public Law team, he has built up a practice that remains deliberately broad, with a focus on government contracts and disputes. On 1 January 2026, he was appointed counsel. For Robin, this step is a vote of confidence and a confirmation of his professional growth.
“I’ve been working as a solicitor for almost ten years now, and I’ve been at Eubelius from day one. I get the chance to work on strategic files with social relevance, which sometimes take me just outside my comfort zone. This means you keep learning.”
What does this promotion mean to you?
“The step from senior attorney to counsel is not an automatic event, or something to be taken for granted. This promotion is the result of hard work and my integration within the Public Law team and the firm.”
What does your practice look like today?
“I work not only in public law, but also in private and judicial law. This keeps the content of my work very stimulating. The work involves different types of questions and regulations. Every file forces you to rethink things. As a result, you make connections more quickly and can think about solutions that go beyond one strict legal framework.”
“A broad practice allows you to make connections more quickly and think about solutions that go beyond one strict legal framework.”
What do you expect will change in the way you work?
“The content remains important, but as you gain more experience, your role shifts. You’re more often involved in strategic choices, you coordinate more and do more review work. Of course, I will continue to work judicially, but I’ll also spend more time consulting with clients, coordinating within the team, and monitoring the quality of the end result.”
“In fact, my work evolves along with the law itself. One general trend is the increase in regulation. Instead of scrapping and simplifying rules, new regulations are simply being added. This has a snowball effect for our clients and complicates their decision-making. As a law firm, our role is increasingly to inform clients and help them navigate this proliferation of new regulation.”

What energises you in your work?
“What motivates me is the varied nature of my work. As a solicitor, you don’t just sit in a room studying the law. Of course, there is a theoretical and an intellectual component: you have to apply legal concepts to specific situations again and again. But it’s also a highly social job. You’re in close contact with your clients, as well as your colleagues. And because the law is constantly changing, you also have to keep learning, innovating and problem-solving all the time.”
“To keep a healthy balance, I like to clear my head by the sea. I’m a passionate kitesurfer. When the wind blows, I head to the North Sea or the Netherlands. You can’t help but put your phone aside and be totally focused. For me, that’s not a luxury, but a necessary counterpart to an intense job.”
