Thijs specialises in disputes over contracts and liability across various sectors. He provides inter alia assistance with proceedings before state courts, and arbitration. In addition, he regularly supports clients in negotiating, drafting and optimising all kinds of agreements, and provides targeted, strategic advice.

He joined Eubelius in 2014 and became a member of the Brussels Bar in the same year. Since 2022, he has been Counsel.

Since 2023, Thijs is also professor of the law of obligations at the Free University of Brussels (VUB). He teaches contract law and the general rules regarding obligations.

He obtained his law degree at Universiteit Gent (UGent) in 2010. In 2015 he also obtained a Ph.D. in law at Universiteit Gent with a thesis on the partial termination and annulment of contracts. During his doctoral research, he spent three months as a visiting scholar at the George Washington University Law School (Washington D.C., USA).

He has written several publications and is regularly invited as a speaker for seminars. Together with Ignace Claeys, he wrote the handbooks General Contract Law (2021, 2022) and New General Contract law (2023, 2025).

Thijs handles cases in Dutch, French and English.
