Thijs focuses on capital market transactions (IPOs, ABBs, rights issues, etc.) and general advisory services to listed entities. Furthermore, he regularly assists companies and private equity players in national and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and joint ventures. 

He became a member of the Dutch-speaking association of the Brussels Bar in 2020.

Thijs obtained a master’s degree in law from Universiteit Antwerpen (2019). In addition, he obtained an LL.M. in International Financial Law from King’s College London (2020), where he specialised in Private Equity and Finance.

Thijs is a voluntary academic researcher at the Jan Ronse Institute for Company and Financial Law and publishes on corporate and financial law.

Recent work highlights include advising Gilead, as reference shareholder of Galapagos, on the intended demerger into two listed entities, including a SpinCo holding approximately €2.45 billion in cash and key contracts, advising the Delen family on their renewed partnership with Ackermans & van Haaren, valuing their stake in Delen Private Bank and Bank van Breda at approximately €1 billion, and advising What’s Cooking Group on the public takeover bid launched by affiliates of its reference shareholder.

He handles cases in Dutch, English and French.
