Eubelius provides legal project assistance to Middelkerke for the new casino project

On 26 July 2016, the town of Middelkerke received major press coverage when it announced that its famous casino building on the seafront would make way for a new multi-functional casino building, including a hotel, casino, restaurant, sky bar, a multipurpose event hall and a covered market square. The project covers both the development of the new building and a gaming concession for a casino. The innovative project is a unique investment in the region that will give Middelkerke’s tourism a new boost and increase employment. The new casino building will be built and operated by a consortium between WILLEMEN Real Estate and Napoleon Games.

This unique PPP project involves a complex contractual framework with various aspects of rights in rem, gambling legislation, construction rights and the economic operation of a multipurpose building, etc. Eubelius acted as legal adviser to the town Middelkerke. The team was led by Barteld Schutyser and Tom Villé.
