Marieke is active in the Brussels Corporate practice, focusing on corporate and securities matters, including corporate governance, takeover bids, private equity and acquisition financing. She has been involved in many leading Belgian corporate and securities transactions in recent years.
She has been a partner at Eubelius since 2001 and was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 1985.
Marieke holds graduate degrees in law from the University of Leuven (Licentiate, 1984), and the University of Berkeley (Boalt Hall School of Law, LL.M., 1985). She also obtained a Ph.D. in law from the University of Leuven (1994), where she is a professor of company law.
Marieke lectures in corporate law at the University of Leuven (Jan Ronse Institute for Company and Financial Law) and was a member of the supervisory board of the FSMA between 2011 - 2017. Since 2016 she is also chairman of the Flemish Federation of Liberal Professions.
She is a member of the editorial board of Tijdschrift voor Rechtspersoon en Vennootschap – Revue Pratique des Sociétés, a leading journal on corporate law. Marieke regularly writes for several specialised publications and delivers conferences in the area of company and financial law. She is also a member of the editorial board of the European Company and Financial Law Review. In addition, Marieke is active within the Belgisch Centrum voor Vennootschapsrecht - Centre belge du Droit des Sociétés and a member of the board of directors of "Le Concert Olympique".
